It was another pale Saturday. I'm not even sure what the fuck that means. It just sounded good in practice. Guess that's true of a Lotta things like hard working or marriage or staying alive to spite someone. What a crock. If I don't owe anyone my life, I sure as shit don't owe em my death.
I ain't saying I'm in any rush to die or anything, but A Light Can Go Out In the Heart just the same as yr porch. Might rid ya of the pests, but yr still left trying to find your door handle for an hour in the dark after an evening of tying one off.
Now an hour don't seem that long, but Eternity Is Longer Than You Think. Endless stretches of pleasure and pain. I dunno about you, but I'd expect to get tired of either after too long. So maybe I'm better off putting my money down on no heaven. Guess it ain't my place to speculate and 'sides, either way you ain't gonna be able to collect in yr debt.
It's crazy the thoughts you think of on your Last Train to Soda Springs, speculating on the nature of heaven, hell, death, life. Think it's just coz you can't smoke on the damn things anymore and thinking about that stuff is better than counting the minutes till you can hop off and take a drag. Feels like we should have gotten there by now though...wait, is there even a train that runs to Soda Springs anymore? Goddammit.
Speaking of the lord, I reckon ain't no greater punishment ever devised than an East Facing Window when yr just trying to sleep in. Now whether that can be attributed to the divine having a pissing contest with his least favorite creation or man's hubris, who's to say? All I know is it stings like a motherfucker when them burning rays start creeping in.
But y'know...I read in a book once that 'when the sun goes down, the blues come around' and I think I believe that. Something bout the night and a highway gets a man to thinking and ain't no good ever come from that. The demons start whispering, the white lines become hypnotic and 8 hours you've left your family and job and taken up working at the Buck Owen's museum in Bakersfield.
Kinda funny how tragic things can turn out. Or maybe it's tragic how funny it is. I dunno. I'm just the guy telling you a story in the booklet of the newest cd by droneroom that no one's gonna read. (Hell I didn't even know they still made cds...). Guess what it all boils to is...you can follow the darkness and all that, sure, but As Long As The Sun is there...you can always find a new way to go.
